Event History - 2008 marks a double anniversary celebration in the aviation calendar. The Farnborough International Airshow will celebrate its diamond anniversary, marking 60 successful years at the Aerodrome. It will also be 100 years since Mr Samuel Franklin Cody made the first successful powered flight in the UK from Farnborough Airfield on 16th October 1908. Though first established as a way for the British public to see and learn about the best of British aviation engineering, the show has since emerged as the world’s premier global showcase for all things aerospace. The original exhibitors who assembled in 1948 have now been joined by over 1200 further companies from every part of the world.
